Mesodyne Announces Seed Funding to Commercialize the LightCell: Nor’easter Ventures Leads Round of MIT Startup Delivering Long-Endurance Quiet Power to the US Military

Mesodyne Inc., the developer of solid-state portable power generators for small unmanned autonomous vehicles and mobile platforms, announced the closing of a $1.75m seed financing led by Nor’easter Ventures. TechStars, Luminate, Capital Factory, and the co-founders of Razor's Edge participated in the financing. This seed financing complements more than $3.5m in non-dilutive funding that Mesodyne was previously awarded from NSF, DOE, ARMY, DARPA, Mass-Ventures and AFWERX.

Mesodyne Receives DARPA DSO Award

Mesodyne Inc. has been awarded a research contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as part of the Thermal Engineering using Materials Physics (TEMP) Program. The program helps companies to develop materials and physics to control the wavelength and directionality of radiative heat transfer while simultaneously withstanding harsh high-temperature environments. Applications for TEMP technology include Mesodyne’s LightCell™ power generator and other thermophotovoltaic energy converters, as well as turbine engines.
