Mesodyne Inc., a Massachusetts-based company, is a START Phase I winner. The program helps deep tech startups convert their Small Business Innovation and Small Business Technology Transfer research (SBIR/STTR) into businesses and jobs in Massachusetts.
Mesodyne Inc. has been awarded a research contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as part of the Thermal Engineering using Materials Physics (TEMP) Program. The program helps companies to develop materials and physics to control the wavelength and directionality of radiative heat transfer while simultaneously withstanding harsh high-temperature environments. Applications for TEMP technology include Mesodyne’s LightCell™ power generator and other thermophotovoltaic energy converters, as well as turbine engines.
Mesodyne Inc. has been awarded an AFWERX Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract, in partnership with Argonne National Lab to refine their compact solid-state generator with 10 times the energy density of a lithium ion battery.
Mesodyne Inc. has been awarded an AFWERX Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase II contract, in partnership with Texas A&M University to develop and field a JP-8 compatible LightCell™ for austere environments: a new class of compact solid-state generator with up to ten times the energy density of a lithium ion battery.
